Terms of Use

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of How I Met, including the mobile app, public website, profiles, discovery, filters, connection requests, messaging, notifications, safety tools, support, and optional AI-assisted experiences.

By creating an account, accessing the app, or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use How I Met.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use How I Met. By using the service, you confirm that you are legally permitted to use it and that the information you provide is accurate.

You may not use How I Met if we previously removed or banned your account unless we give you written permission.

3. Your account

You are responsible for activity that happens through your account and for keeping access to your device, email, and authentication method secure.

You must not impersonate another person, create misleading profiles, use another person's photos without permission, sell or transfer your account, or create accounts for automated or abusive purposes.

4. Respectful conduct

How I Met is built for respectful, consensual interactions. You must treat other people lawfully and respectfully in profiles, connection requests, messages, reports, and any other interaction.

Harassment, threats, hate, exploitation, sexual coercion, non-consensual intimate content, scams, spam, impersonation, doxxing, abusive data collection, illegal activity, and attempts to bypass safety or security systems are prohibited.

5. Your content

You are responsible for photos, messages, profile answers, preferences, reports, and other content submitted from your account.

You must have the rights needed to submit your content. You grant How I Met a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, process, transmit, moderate, and otherwise use your content as needed to provide, secure, operate, and improve the service.

6. Safety, reporting, and moderation

We may review, limit, remove, or restrict content or accounts when we believe it is necessary for safety, compliance, abuse prevention, service integrity, or enforcement of these Terms.

You can report or block users in the app. Reporting does not guarantee a specific outcome, but it helps us investigate potential abuse.

7. AI-assisted features

Optional AI-assisted features may help with app navigation, profile context, voice interactions, or other experiences. These features may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected outputs.

You are responsible for how you use AI-assisted outputs. Do not rely on them as professional advice or as a substitute for your own judgment, consent, safety precautions, or legal obligations.

8. Prohibited technical activity

You must not scrape, crawl, reverse engineer, overload, disrupt, probe, bypass, or interfere with How I Met, its security measures, its infrastructure, or its access controls.

You must not use bots, automated account creation, unauthorized APIs, credential stuffing, malicious code, or any activity intended to extract data, harm users, or impair the service.

9. Service changes and availability

We may change, suspend, limit, or discontinue parts of the service at any time. We may also release new features, remove features, or change eligibility, safety, or operational requirements.

We do not guarantee that How I Met will be uninterrupted, error-free, available in every location, or compatible with every device or platform.

10. Disclaimers

How I Met is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the maximum extent permitted by law.

We do not guarantee matches, conversations, compatibility, offline meetings, user identity, user conduct, or any specific outcome from using the service. You are responsible for your decisions and interactions with other people.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, How I Met will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, or service interruption.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where the law does not allow that limitation.

12. Termination

You may stop using the service or delete your account at any time. We may suspend, limit, or terminate access if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk, caused harm, or used the service unlawfully.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply, including provisions about content licenses, safety, disclaimers, liability, and disputes.
